My name is Paula Hopes, I am a Learning Disability Nurse Consultant, fairly new in post having worked in Universities for the last five years and before that I was a clinical nurse specialist for children with challenging behaviour in an LDCamhs team. I am passionate about doing the right thing, nurturing the future generation of LD nurses and joining others in championing our role.

I think we often underestimate how long it takes post registration to feel truly competent and that there needs to be appreciation of the time and space for growth and professional development. I am a lover of reflection and within my practice there are always plenty of things to reflect on.

I love being a learning disability nurse, I am passionate about my role and working in partnership with others to strengthen the identity of our profession and generate interest and recognition of the difference we make.
